The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
