The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
