The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
