The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
