The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
