The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
