The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
