The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
