The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
