The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
