The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
