The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
