The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
