The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
