The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
