The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
