The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
