The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
