The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
