The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear. 26
