The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
