The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
