The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 you pay attention 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
