The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
