The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
