The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
