The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
