The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
