The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And who softly release the soul. 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 "Tell him 'Do you have the inclination to become pure?' 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he disavowed and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
