The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
