The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 you pay attention 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
