The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily herein is lesson for him who feareth. 26
