The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
