The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
