The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
