The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 and gathered his people together 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
