The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 and gently take it away; 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
