The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
