The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
