The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
