The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
