The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 then he mustered 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
