The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 and those that blow gently, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
