The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hath there come unto thee the story of Musa! 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
