The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
