The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
