The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
