The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
