The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 While eyes are downcast 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
