The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
